To Anyone Considering Building with Hunnicutt and Associates:

We had a wonderful experience building our home with Hunnicutt and Associates. It was out first time to build a home. It was a custom home. We had to build “build from a distance”. We were apprehensive (to say the least!). Jack Hunnicutt and Becky Krause walked us through the process, with superb guidance and advice at each juncture. We love the new house and would build with them again.

This was our first time to build from scratch. We had always bought tract homes, or lived on a military base. We had a good idea of what we wanted; we just didn’t know how to design it and then make it happen. Jack and Becky linked us with a fine architect (J. Bryant Boyd) then metered our progress in that process – reinforcing the ideas we had put on the table, meshing those ideas with technical code issues, and generating a working plan – all in less that six months. And all from a distance!

From there they gave us a cost and time estimate. Of note, the house came in under budget and two months ahead of schedule.

We were living in Alabama. Becky laid out a suggested visit schedule so that we could inspect at critical junctures. It worked perfectly, and on every visit, those items which were supposed to be completed were indeed completed.

One set of circumstances captures the flavor of the entire process. We had spent a lot of time reviewing, analyzing, and selecting the finish on the cabinets – which went all through the house. After the painters applied the second of three scheduled layers of glazing, Becky directed them to halt. In her judgment, the glaze was exactly the way we wanted it, even though “technically” it needed one more application according to the color charts. We arrived two weeks later and it was perfect – exactly what we wanted. Becky had kept in mind our overall color patterns, and had the confidence, and authority, to direct the work. I was impressed with her ability to translate our discussions into an operational decision – and it was a signature of the way she and Jack approached the process.

We were apprehensive at first, but at about half way through the job our apprehension switched to complete confidence. We would build with them again if the opportunity came up – but we don’t plan on moving! Feel free to give us a call if you have any questions.
